Once a grand movie palace, now Portland’s most elegant stage — the Schnitz shimmers with nearly a century of music, laughter and inspiration.

Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, lovingly known as the "Schnitz,” is an Italian Rococo Revival theatre and one of the last surviving venues on Portland’s Broadway. Originally a vaudeville theatre turned grand movie palace, the Schnitz has seen nearly a century of show-stopping performances and timeless memories. After a spectacular restoration in the 1980s and major acoustic upgrades in 2021, the hall continues to shine as the iconic heart of Portland’s performing arts scene.

The Schnitz welcomes an impressive lineup of world-class musicians, comedians, authors, and speakers. It is also home to the Oregon Symphony and Portland Youth Philharmonic.

The restoration of the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall was supported by a generous donation from Arlene and Harold Schnitzer.
