POULENC  Suite from Les Biches
GERSHWIN  Piano Concerto in F
STRAVINSKY  Petrushka (1947 version)

Stravinsky struck gold with his ballet Petrushka, the story of a sad-sack little puppet in unrequited love. Filled with folk tunes and blessed with spectacular orchestration, Petrushka is an ear-tickling roller-coaster ride. Poulenc’s whimsical suite from his one-act 1924 ballet Les Biches, all about random attractions amongst the guests at a house party, is joined by a performance of Gershwin’s jazz-age Concerto in F by renowned pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet.
