Oregon Symphony

BEETHOVEN  Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, “Choral”

Ring in the new year with Beethoven’s iconic Ninth Symphony, a classical masterwork that celebrates the unity of all mankind. The piece ends with the development of the ever-hopeful “Ode to Joy” theme, with a choir of voices singing the words of a poem by Friedrich Schiller. And like any good New Year’s party, the symphony ends with a kiss...“You millions, I embrace you./This kiss is for all the world!”
